There are countless great ideas for a weekend break in the UK. From spa breaks in Scotland, fishing in the Lake District, to adventure holidays in places such as the Forest of Dean, or Longleat House; there really is so much to choose from, and it’s easy to find a holiday that will appeal to you.

Those looking for a little action and adventure will be thrilled by the superb selection of theme parks that can be found around England. Some of the more popular sites include Chessington World of Adventures, Alton Towers, Legoland, and of course, the world-famous Thorpe Park.

Thorpe Park is situated in the county of Surrey, and was originally built in 1979. Nowadays it features a superb range of rides, which rival some of the most impressive rollercoasters anywhere in the world. The first large rollercoaster to be built at Thorpe Park was Colossus, a multi-looping coaster built in 2002, which features a record-breaking ten inversions.

Other major attractions include the volcano-themed Nemesis Inferno, and Stealth – this high-octane ride is famous for its impressive speeds, reaching a total velocity of 130 kilometres per hour, in no more than 1.9 seconds! There are a good selection of water-based rides on offer too, including Tidal Wave, Storm Surge, and the tallest log flume in the UK, known as Loggers Leap.

A number of the rides and areas around Thorpe Park feature unusual or exciting themes. For example, the park features the only official ‘Saw’ ride, based on the horrific film franchise. Visitors are also treated to a number of exciting one-off events throughout the year, including the park’s Halloween ‘Fright Nights’, as well as the ever-popular Cirque du Freak. The latter is a truly bizarre circus show, which features strange and wonderful carnival acts such as Stevie Starr, The Human Regurgitator and Babes with Blades.

Book your stay at the Thorpe Park hotel, to enjoy easy access to all the wonderful attractions of the park. Experience rollercoasters and water rides, dine out at fine restaurants, and enjoy a range of dazzling live entertainment in the evenings. With so much to do in one place, it is bound to be a holiday you remember for a very long time!
