Cashmere is a very soft and delicate material. It is really warm and long-lasting. It is known to be a very luxurious material, that is the reason why many people do not want to wash it by themselves and only give it to professionals. Scarves made from cashmere are a very nice accessory and that is why they need to be taken good care of. You should know that you can hand wash it, it is not necessary to take it to the dry cleaner. Here is what you need to do:
First of all, you need to find a detergent, that is suitable for such fine garments. cleaners Eastcote recommend you find one which is specifically for cashmere. Make sure you do not use any bleach or fabric softener.
Start the washing by filling the sink with lukewarm water. Then add some of the detergent. Check the label of the bottle to see how much you will need to put. Then mix the water with your hand. Soak the scarf in the soapy water for 15 minutes. Then take it out and rinse it. You may need to rinse the detergent off several times. Make sure you do not wrinkle the scarf, because that will pull it out of shape.
To get all the water out, first press it out of the scarf. Then put the scarf over a towel. Roll the towel in a roll so that the scarf is in the middle. Press the scarf as hard as you can. Cleaners Eastcote explain that this way the towel will absorb all the water from the scarf.
You should never dry your scarf in the dryer, because the heat will damage it. You shouldn't also put it in sunlight because the colours might fade. The best way to dry it is to put it over a dry bath towel ad let it air dry.
