If you want to grow a kitchen garden but have a terrible time making it, you know, grow, then there could be a solution in GrowBottles for you. This smart idea takes old wine bottles and transforms them into hydroponic gardens for herbs like basil, mint, oregano, parsley and chives.
The planters include: “Hand-crafted recycled wine bottle, soil, USDA certified organic/heirloom seeds, clay pebbles, wool wick, plant nutrient, cork coaster, ribbon made from recycled plastic bottles.”
They’re a bit on the expensive side, priced at $35 each. It makes you wonder if you might be crafty enough to make your own, though you’ll need a little experience working with glass. The wine bottle needs to be cut in half with the top half turned upside down and placed into the bottom half. Once that’s done, the rest is easy.
