Clean Your Favourite Iron

All the items you have in your house need proper and regular maintenance. This also stands for the iron. Many people forget to take care for their irons, once they have already bought the ironing tools. However, regular maintenance and cleaning of the iron is an essential task, and should not be skipped. The whole sole plate must be free of any residue and stains. Steam ducts also need to be cleaner, so that they remain open, not full of dust and dirt.

If you surf on the Internet and try to find any cleaning services for your precious iron, google will show you up 10 results for iron cleaning, at least! You can use such services, but why to spend money on this, when you can do it by yourself and it is very easy?!

Here we offer you a few tips and tricks for better iron maintenance:

  • The first thing is to turn off the iron, and unplug it, and let it cool, so you avoid any troubles, such as burning your hands.
  • Make sure that there is no left water in the iron and if any, just pour it out of the device.
  • For proper care and better results you must use some cleaning detergent. Saving money is one of the advantages of cleaning your iron. For this reason, you can make your own cleaning solution, instead of buying it. Best London cleaners recommend the use of special cleaners such as grill cleaners, and iron cloth, but to avoid spending money, you can mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda and some amount of water.
  • Apply the already mixed compound to the sole plate of the iron, by using a clean cloth and gently rubbing.
  • By using a damp cloth wipe the plate.
  • For cleaning the steam ducts use the end of a pipe cleaner by inserting it in each hole and twisting it back and forth.
  • After the steps above, you have to full the half container of the iron with water.
  • The rest free space in the container you have to fill up with white vinegar. Many London cleaners suggest the use of natural and eco- friendly ingredients, but be careful what you use and if it is proper for the certain surface.
  • Plug the cable of the iron in the outlet and turn it to High, and let it stay like that for 15 minutes.
  • When you make sure that the 15 minutes are over, you have to turn off the iron and let it cool.
  • Empty the mixture of vinegar and water from the iron.
  • Go through steps 7 and 11 again, but this time use only water to fill up the iron.
  • After the steps listed above, you can get back to ironing your precious clothes.
