I am not a professional dancer.  I am a mother of one (baby boy, 18 months, cute as heck) who LOVES to DANCE.  That about sums it up!  If there’s music on that grooves me, I groove.  If there’s music that moves me, I move (isn’t that clever?).

Dance was my first art form as a child.  I studied on and off through my childhood, jazz, tap, ballet, gymnastics, and eventually left it to those who were “more naturally talented” and “not fat.”  I had this idea that heavy girls couldn’t dance because they couldn’t control their body the way skinny girls could.  Plus, it just wasn’t pretty enough.

But I’m older, wiser, and now I understand that it’s not about that.  All that matters is how dance makes me feel and communicating that to an audience.  Dance is all about communication, beauty, emotion, breath, life.  And that’s why I love it.

I’ve studied jazz, contemporary and improvisational dance with my current teacher for over 10 years, and come very far.  I know now that I AM a dancer because I’m able to easily communicate what I feel through movement and dance. The story of the dance is now what I’m interested in, and mainly what this blog is about.
