I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Sabio and Ottah Machado. I have two younger sisters, Greta and Skiddle, and they both have outrageous and arguably artistic temperaments. Once, for example, when Pop Sabio told Greta to stop throwing watermelon seeds at me, she threw an entire slice of watermelon instead. And Skiddle chooses kitchen supplies like funnels, colanders, and tea cups based on how a pair of them look over her breasts. I am the quiet, sensible one. I only throw food as a last resort and as a deterrent more than anything else and I understand all too well that mammary glands should play only a very minor role in our everyday household purchases. I take after my mother. Mama Ottah is a very practical woman who likes order and familiarity and doctors who are at least six feet tall.
