One of our favorite local music venues/watering holes will be making some changes starting next month. The Fold has been handling the talent booking for the Silverlake Lounge for 15 years, and have brought many great bands to the small night spot. But unfortunately all good things come to an end. Starting on May 1st The Fold will be moving out and the venue will be handling all of their own booking. This story sounds very familiar and is similar to what happened over at The Satellite when Spaceland packed its bags. In The Fold’s weekly email blast that went out today, the promoter made this little statement: “We will also be having one final show at Silverlake Lounge with The Little Ones, Tandemoro and The Mid-Cities. Come join us for this farewell celebration of 15 years of great music.” The Silverlake Lounge official Twitter account also made this announcement earlier today:  “Starting 5/01/12 the silverlake lounge will be booking it’s own shows.” So for people who were worried when they thought the live music venue/bar would be shutting its doors for good, worry not my friends. These are small changes, but we’re happy to hear that the venue is remaining open. The Fold will continue booking shows at Bootleg Bar. Just a heads up, if Silverlake Lounge ever closes I call dibs on the salvation sign.
