Today I asked for inspiration, and it landed by way of a reader question: I want to do pastry professionally - Any Suggestions? It is not a stupid question. If more people asked valid questions I believe the world would run so much smoother. I suggest that you do some research. This is not a personal attack, I have just seen allot of people complain about this work and it is really too bad - because some of us are in it for more than money, to express our creativity. If you are interested in becoming a pastry chef, make sure you have a realistic expectation of where you will be working and the salary. Allot of people complain that they find the best schools and go into debt paying on tuition, to find that out that they aren't able to make the top pay scale , as say an executive chef at a 5 star restaurant, right out of school etc. A school is only as good as what you put into it and take out of it. If the "best" school is out of your price range, find a reputable one that isn't. If you are not prepared to do any dirty work than this might not be the right profession. You won't be making much money at first. And you have to really be on your game to advance in this type of industry.
