Palm Beach Gardens, FL – The Honda Classic will be sporting perhaps the strongest field of the year outside of the 4 majors and the WGC events. Tiger Woods is making his debut at The Bear Trap, he is joined by Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Keegan Bradley and Graeme McDowell to name a few. Interesting that Tiger decided to play this week, The Bear Trap is not friendly to wayward drives, if Tiger can’t control the 1 wood it could be a short debut for Woods. On the other hand he lives in Florida and is extremely familiar with the style of golf that needs to be played. Power Rankings for the Honda Classic: 1. Rory McIlroy – He could have played better last week and still almost won the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. In his last 7 starts his worst finish is T11. He knows the course and has to be the frontrunner. 2. Keegan Bradley – Maybe a bit of a let down last week in Tucson, but besides that has been playing stellar in 2012. Could win here and his second major later this year. 3. Lee Westwood – he is probably looking for a little redemption after getting beat by Rory last week. The reason he is not #2 is because The Bear Trap demands a good short game. 4. Mark Wilson – The most underrated player in the world has won this year and made it to the final four of the WGC Match Play. 5. Tiger Woods – If Tiger is playing he has to be in the top 5, the way he is playing he really doesn’t deserve to be there. As always if he can putt he has a chance. Urban Golfer Jim Dowd is making the picks this week: Favorite: Y.E. Yang. The PGA Champion has won here before. He played well last week in the WGC Match Play and could take that down to Florida. Darkhorse: Rory McIllroy. I know it is stupid to say that the World #2 is a darkhorse. But other than Tiger Woods, this guy had the longest flight to Florida lamenting the chance to become the World’s #1 player. You handily beat your rival Lee Westwood, and then have a major let down against Mr. Sunglasses Hunter Mahan. Golf fans would love to see a Rory/Tiger duel over the weekend. Let’s see how these two recovered (Tiger putting like a 10 handicapper and Rory from blowing a chance at #1). The Urban Golfer
