Fanning the Flames of Fear and AngerI have no doubt that many Tea Partiers have a genuine concern about the direction of the country, but mass movements offer cover to people whose lives are driven by passionate hatred and during times of discontent, hate becomes respectable, because it can masquerade as patriotism. From the Southern Poverty Law Center Intelligence Report: As of 2009, there are 1,002 known hate groups operating across the country, including neo-Nazis, Klansmen, white nationalists, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, Black separatists, border vigilantes and others....a 244% jump after the installation of Barack Obama.
