From Marc Carig:The Yankees have no plans to trade for a new catcher.
Despite starting catcher Russell Martin's horrendous first half, general manager Brian Cashman said today that he has no plans of wading into the trade market for catching help.
"We have our catching," Cashman said. "I believe in Russell Martin, period."There's no doubt that Martin has been awful at the plate for most of the last season and a half, but he's a solid defensive catcher and the Yankees haven't seemed to be too hurt by his struggles. I'd rather them stick with what they have instead of dumping a bunch of prospects for a catcher they don't really need.
