The video for "On Your Own" begins showing the busy life in the big city. A struggling artist walks into his flat, and again the mail has brought more reminder notices of overdue bills. Frustrated by his inability to do anything about his problems, he walks into the apartment and retreats back into his art-studio area. On his easel is a blank canvas just waiting for his next inspiration. Seeing his girlfriend sleeping soundly gives him an idea - he will paint her. In his world that is falling apart, she is the only one beautiful thing remaining. So inspired is he, that he paints and paints and paints all through the night. The sun rises showing where the artist dropped off to sleep on the floor beside the easel.
A knock on the door awakens both his girlfriend and the artist. She attends to the door - more bad news, an eviction notice. Horrified, she immediately starts packing. The artist wants to show her his magnificent creation, but she is too upset to be consoled. She finishes up and leaves.
Upset by his world totally falling apart, the artist "loses it". He throws stuff around the flat, tosses papers and equipment out the window, and even flings his beautiful newly-finished painting out the window. At that precise moment, an art dealer happens to be driving by and notices the portrait on the ground. He stops, takes it back into the apartment from which it came, and finds himself consoling an enraged man, lost. Fortunately, this art dealer is able to bring the struggling artist back from the depths into a different world of fame and fortune.
"On Your Own" is a great song with its rock-driven beats and heartfelt lyrics sung by Coyle Girelli. It is the first single to be released from the Russian DJ's sophomore album Recollect.
