Design & Composition: Photography, Styling and Design Workshop at Ettersburg Castle, Germany
Published on 2012-04-25 06:20:00
Under the motto “Design & Composition,” I am collaborating with two skilled professionals to host a fantastic workshop here in Weimar. Earlier this year I teamed up with photographer Julia Julia Cawley and designer and cookbook author Lisa Nieschlag to style Lisa’s new cookbook, which will be published later this year. Now we are getting back together, coordinating our know-how to provide our participants the basis on how photographing, styling and designing a cookbook work in synergy. Schloss Ettersburg is a gorgeous 18th Century castle nestled between the rolling hills just outside the beautiful city of Weimar. This will be the venue for our 2 day course, where we will open the doors to 10 participants and cover different aspects of food photography and styling, working on and designing a cookbook. Over the course of the workshop you will learn about how to work with natural light, exposure, composition, selecting the right prop, finding the mood and how to create a story with your images. Furthermore, we will show you how to put together and design a cookbook and what needs to be considered when photographing and styling a cookbook. I am really excited about this workshop as the theme and topic is slightly different. I also get to show off my beautiful city, Weimar to the participants of the workshop. Very much looking forward to welcoming you here and to the workshop. Question and answers The Instructors Lisa Nieschlag Designer Lisa Nieschlag is currently working on her third cookbook, to be published in the fall of 2012. Together with her business partner, she invented “Anni” two years ago: a friendly kitchen expert, the kind of grandmother we all wanted. Their first cookbook, “Anni kocht in Münster”, took readers by storm in 2010, followed one year later by “Anni backt in Münster”, its baking equivalent. Photographer Julia Cawley shot both books, which depict their Westphalian homeland as much as its typical dishes, adapted to modern tastes. When Lisa is not trying out new recipes in the kitchen, she is busy as one of the founding partners in her own business, the agency for communication design “Nieschlag + Wentrup”. In Münster and beyond, those in the know frequently encounter its prize-winning work. And as if this weren’t enough activity, Lisa also founded the fashion label “Lizzawest”, specializing in T-Shirts for women and children known for their playful animal motifs. She lives in Münster, Germany, with her husband and their two-year-old daughter. Julia Cawley
