The Federation forces try to stop the Vagan fortress from docking with the colony of Nortram.
It's now an even battle between Asemu and Zeheart.
Vagans display the principle of strength in numbers.
In the battlefield, Asemu kills a bunch of Vagan grunts before running into Zeheart and the two start to fight with neither gaining much of an advantage. Meanwhile, after figuring the Vagan's plan of docking their fortress with Nortram to capture the colony, Flit flies out in the AGE-1 equipped with special missile launchers. With the help with escorts, Flit makes it to near the Vagan space fortress. Flit uses the missile to damage one of the fortress' thruster banks which forces the fortress to tilt, exposing its vulnerable sides and back to the Diva's photo blaster. However, the Vagans use their mobile suits to push the fortress back into the right direction. Flit is then attacked by Daz who damages the AGE-1 with a suicide attack, and this forces Flit to retreat. Back on the Diva, Frederick gets an idea and uses the Diva's photon blaster to shoot a Vagan carrier near the fortress. The carrier is knocked into the fortress which disables the fortress' shield, but the fortress is still on route to Nortram.
If we can't hit you from the front, we'll knock another ship into you from the side.
Flit returns to the Diva and orders the accelerated photon blaster to fire. The blast damages the Vagan fortress and knocks the fortress off course, but the fortress is still mostly intact. The Diva can't get out of the way in time and gets lodged inside one of the fortress' pods. The Diva needs to blast itself free, but the photon blaster is damaged. Remi volunteers to go out to repair the blaster in a worker mobile suit. Remi completes the repairs, but she see Mink coming in. Mink fires at the Diva at close range but Remi shields the ship with her mobile suit. Mink kicks Remi away to continue her attack, but Obright returns to knock Mink right into the path of the photon blaster just as the blaster fires, and Mink and her Zedas R are obliterated. The Diva is free, but Remi dies from her injuries and the fortress is now heading towards Earth and may cause massive damage when it hits the surface.
Wrong spot at the wrong time.
Bye Remi. We hardly knew thee... yeah actually we really don't know much about you.
Some distance back, Asemu and Zeheart notice that the fortress is heading towards Earth and stop their fighting. Zeheart and the Vagans in the fortress switch to their plan B, which is for the Vagans to sneak onto Earth in escape pods and use the falling fortress as cover. Asemu tells the Divas that he is going into the fortress to blow up its reactor to blast the fortress into smaller pieces. Asemu flies in and is soon joined by Zeheart who also has the same idea. Zeheart leads Asemu to the weapons bay where the two obtain some giant missiles. The two return to the reactor core where they strap the missiles to the core and set the timer. Both Zeheart and Asemu are ready to sacrifice their lives to destroy the fortress, and the two shake hands and Zeheart recognizes Asemu as a true warrior. However, Zeheart suddenly gets a X-Rounder message from Ezelcant saying that he still has work to do and an escape path opens up. Asemu and Zeheart fly out just as the reactor explodes. Both the AGE-2 Gundam and the Zeydra are pulled into Earth's atmosphere, and the Diva also follows suit. Zeheart shields Asemu's Gundam from a piece of debris and gets knocked silly, but his Zeydra is caught by Dole's Zedas R during reentry, and the Vagan pods also fall into the atmosphere amidst the shower of debris from the exploding fortress. Some time later, Asemu and the Gundam has landed on a beach and Asemu is staring at the sunset as the Diva approaches.
Isn't it more fun to work together than against each other?
Don't be staring off into the sunset just yet. You still have work to do.
Unlike the previous battle at Big Ring, the Vagans actually had a plan B when their original plan didn't work. It's arguable whether sacrificing a large space fortress to land a small number of forces onto Earth is worth the trouble, but it sounded like that's what supreme leader Ezelcant had wanted all along. It's been implied a few episodes back that the Vagans had help in Federation territory, so they may already have some resources on Earth to start the fight there.
Asemu and Zeheart didn't get as much attention as I thought they'd get. Sure, they cooperated in the end to destroy the Vagan fortress, but a large portion of the episode was given to Flit and the Diva trying to destroy the Vagan fortress or knock it off course. The Divas photon blaster seemed a bit weak this episode and even the accelerated version didn't do that much damage on the Vagan fortress without shields. The writers did kill off Remi, but she's not that important of a character and it seems that her only purpose is to get killed off and make Obright sad. It looked like Obright would be the one to bite the dust, but having Remi die is not all that different.
Given that all of the main characters are still alive and the Vagans got what they wanted, this generation is not quite over yet and the fight will continue on Earth. From the preview, it seems that Asemu has taken on Woolf's look and even had the Gundam painted white. Lets see what the Vagans can cook up know that they have landed a few guys on Earth.
