Red Sox homer their way out of April

While it was nice to see Coco Crisp and Josh Reddick back in Fenway, here’s hoping their performances last night aren’t indicative of how their series could go. Clay Buchholz was pitching like we knew he could  until the seventh inning when Crisp and Reddick went back to back with a two-run single and a three-run homer to cut the Red Sox lead from 11-1 to 11-6.  But the Oakland A’s seem almost snake-bitten at Fenway Park and last night ended up being no different as the bullpen held the offense down and the Red Sox won the first game of the series. Holy cow, the offense.  Mike Aviles, Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Marlon Byrd each had two hits, while Darnell McDonald got three off the A’s pitching.  (Papi had two home runs and Aviles and McDonald got one each of their own.)  Again, people will say “Well this is a team they should be beating” and to that I say “And they did!”  I’m easily able to enjoy any win, thank you.  Besides, a win is a win and doesn’t count any less if the team isn’t over .500.
