Gradually it became fashionable for the bonnet becoming larger accessorized with features, ribbon and lace. By the end of the 19th century hat styles were extended with wide brims and flat crowns. In the jazz era mid 1920s women's hair was shorter. Following shorter hair short brim hats hugged the head.Hat fashion was influenced by events in history.
