There was Suzy eating her chocolate/strawberry ice cream with her mom to her side. Suzy loved the sugary treat and how it melted in her mouth. Little did she know that her tongue in her mouth is what gives the perception of taste. Taste is one of the five senses in our bodies. Different tastes such as sour, sweet, salty and acid are all present in the tongue. The tongue can be divided into 4 main parts: front, middle, sides and back. All these areas of the tongue can detect different types of flavors in foods. The front = punta of the tongue can detect sweet foods.
