— The“Dear Mr. Fantasy” fantasy baseball podcast just added a permanent element
to its format. After several guest appearances, the ‘Fantasy Doctor’ has joined
the show as a permanent co-host joining Chris McBrien on the weekly fantasy
The podcast covers news and
events in the baseball world especially as they pertain to fantasy baseball, a
growing segment of the sport’s appeal. With fantasy sports now accounting for
approximately $4 billion in annual economic impact across the sports industry,
the need for more information as it relates to players is increasingly
“One of the things
listeners asked for was more information in regard to player injuries. That is
where the Fantasy Doctor comes in”, states Chris McBrien, the originator of the
podcast. “His ability to explain injuries in a manner which is simple to
understand makes him the perfect fit on the show”.
The podcast claims to “put
the fan in fantasy baseball” with an aggressive social media campaign, sharing
tweets and emails from listeners as well as frequent interaction with fans.
Even with such a transparent approach, the show has taken the angle of keeping
the Doctor’s identity a secret.
“This podcast is about more
than just baseball. It’s about having fun. Keeping the Doctor anonymous has
made for a great dynamic on the podcast. It keeps people guessing and keeps
things fun”, states McBrien. The strong chemistry between the co-hosts was a
determining factor in adding the Fantasy Doctor to the show permanently.
The fantasy baseball
podcastis produced weekly and episodes are available for download on a
variety of podcatching clients, including iTunes, Podcast Pickle, Podcast Alley, MirPod and Podcast.com.
