Theirapplications shall be considered Dutiesa) Deputizes the Executive Directorb) Coordinates research agenda that stimulate ideas for addressingdevelopment challenges of Uganda,c) Manages and coordinates the timely implementation of the Centre’sresearch agendad) Provides guidance to the Centre’s knowledge managemente) Undertake research in areas of his/her expertisef) Engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of the Centreg) Implement research and capacity building/staff development activitiesh) Identify opportunities for the most efficient and effective collaborativeuse of research by the Centre’s stakeholdersi) Mentor, supervise and manage researchers’ performancej) Coordinate a systematic environmental scanning of available dataanalysis, presentation tools, best practisesk) Ensure effective participation of the Centre in development policydiscoursel) Market the Centre and solicit funds from various developmentpartners through proposal writing and grant applications to supportthe Centre’s activities Requirements:a) Excellent academic background with a Ph.D. in Economics or anyrelated area in economics (by coursework and research) from areputable Universityb) Strong training background in theory and methods of economicanalysisc) Excellent writing and presentation skillsd) A minimum of five (5) years of postdoctoral research workexperiencee) Considerable experience in public policy analysis and research aswell as knowledge managementf) Strong track record peer-reviewed publicationg) Experience of successful management and leadership of a researchteam working on large research projectsh) Experience of designing and implementing policy oriented researchi) Significant record of innovative and influential work, demonstrated bylead authorship of peer reviewed publicationsj) Well developed leadership skills including the ability to lead in a teamwork environmentk) Willingness and ability to work under tight deadlines in a competitiveenvironmentl) High-level interpersonal skills and good communication skillsm) Professional experience of working in a reputable researchinstitutionsn) Unquestionable integrityo) A qualification in management will be an added advantageThe Principal Research Fellow position is for a three year contract, with apossibility for renewal, subject to satisfactory performance.
