This was opening week for Bellingham SLAM basketball. The SLAM is Bellingham's hometown team. It's part of the International Basketball League with teams representing cities in the Pacific Northwest and Canada, but this year New Jersey, Florida and Japan have been added. It's minor league, but the games are as exciting as the majors. Even more so since you can get up close and personal. This is the second year that Wayne, Jeanne and I have season tickets for courtside seats. Makes you feel a bit like Jack Nicholson at a Lakers game. If you live near Bellingham, come on out to a home game. There are always plenty of seats, even at the last minute.SLAM Home GamesFriday, April 27 at 7:00 pm vs. Portland ChinooksFriday, May 11 at 7:00 pm vs. Vancouver VolcanoesFriday, May 18 at 7:00 pm vs. Edmonton EnergyFriday, May 25 at 7:00 pm vs. Olympia ReignMonday, May 28 at 5:00 pm vs. Japan TornadoesSaturday, June 2 at 7:00 pm vs. Salem Soldiers (Blaine HS)Friday, June 8 at 7:00 pm vs. Olympia ReignSaturday, June 23 at 7:00 pm vs. Yamhill HighflyersSunday, July 1 at 5:00 pm vs. Orlando VenomHome games are played at Whatcom Community College.
