When I hosted the monthly Reader's Challenge and offered Design Kits, one of the most popular aspects was the Luxury Bead Blends. I received dozens of emails saying how much they enjoyed the unique mix of beads. When I stopped making the Design Kits, I got a few emails asking if I would continue to offer the blends. And... after much time and debating with myself, I decided to go for it! I enjoy making the blends. It's kind of like mixing perfumes or blending spices... you have to get just [..]

When I heard that Michelle Mach was hosting another challenge, I jumped at the opportunity. She has a knack of creating unique challenges that always push my creative thinking. For the "Suddenly Spring" challenge, she sent out a readymade bracelet that we had to cannibalize and repurpose in our own designs. The bracelet was strung up on elastic stretchy cording and had bright blue crystals and crystal encrusted rondelles. I thought this would be a piece of cake. And for the most part, it [..]

I've finally taken the time to sort through and edit the pictures from Tucson. It seems like that was a lifetime ago and a million miles away. When we got back, we hit the road running and there was no real down time to process everything. Perhaps that's for the best. I sometimes get lonesome for the friends that I was fortunate enough to see while there. Without further ado.... here are some more snapshots from Tucson: Heather, Cathy Collison and Jessica Prill from Glass Garden Beads in [..]

Hellebores are often prized in the garden for their unusual colors and exotic-looking flowers. What I love best about this particular flower is that they are sturdy. This flower is sometimes called the Lenten or Christmas Rose, because it is frost-resistant. They come back, year-after-year, blooming when other flowers are just thinking of sprouting and even the deer leave them alone for the most part. Even when all else is still brown or covered over with snow, the leaves of the hellebore ar [..]
