London 2012 Torch Relay Videos

Today, I'm sharing a couple of videos: the BBC's trailer for coverage of the tour and the London 2012 animation which features many of the landmarks it'll visit on it's way to the Opening Ceremony in just 64 days time!Andrew > read more

Review - The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

Published on 2012-05-19 12:52:00

The Ukulele is an instrument which is hard to take seriously. In the national consciousness it will always be associated with George Formby, leaning on lamp-posts and cleaning windows. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain embraces the reputation of the instrument whilst, simultaneously, demonstrating it's great versatility. Most of the numbers they perform are done to comic effect; Weetus' Teenage Dirtbag is quite a straight cover version but is nonetheless somewhat incongruous given a backing [..] > read more

Once upon a time there was a car show - a reasonably standard magazine format show dispensing consumer advice on the one hand whilst also featuring aspirational super-cars on the other. But all was not well behind the scenes and most of the presenters walked out of the show and (pretty much) straight into a new show on Channel 5, imaginatively entitled 5th Gear.I say "imaginatively titled" as the show from which they had walked out was Top Gear... > read more

It was in such a position that this week I heard a voice I hadn't heard in years - a voice that can be beautiful and melodic but carries a rasp and hint of menace at the same time. The track itself wasn't particularly memorable (as is the case with me and most dance music) but the f [..] > read more
