Almost 20 months
Published on 2010-08-14 10:31:00
Evelynne has seemingly changed over-night. No longer our baby girl, but our gorgeous, vibrant little girl. A quick check of the calendar has me practically staggering from the realisation that in almost 4 short months, she will be a 2 year old! (and in almost 3 months, she will become a 'big sister'!)... maybe the staggering has something more to do with the enormous appendage attached to my

This photo epitomises our travels. They were everywhere! From the south of Spain, across Portugal and back into France again. Beautiful. Two of my favourite photos from our holidays. yes, I realise I didn't have to travel across 4 countries in order to photograph my own daughter, but they just capture perfectly what we were doing that particular day. Above we were at a small beach in Asturias

But stopping along the way.Well into our 7 week holiday of France/Spain/Portugal, we have 2 more stops to make - In Spain, on the North coast, and then in the Dordogne region of France. We covered Portugal from North to south, and loved it.The weather has been very kind (except maybe the few days of 37, 38 & 39 degrees heat (not fun at anytime, but especially not fun at 20 weeks pregnant!) and

As the girl is nearing 18 months, lots of things are happening at our house!!I'm currently taking a brief 5 minutes out to update a blog that hasn't been updated in months - We are busily packing for our nice long summer holidays - Spain and Portugal, this time around. We have planned around 5 weeks, covering Andorra, Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Seville and the Algarve region of Portugal.
Evelynne at 15 months

Somehow on this blog, my daughter has gone from 8 months to 15, without any in-betweens. Well it ain't so, there has been plenty in-betweens. We've just been a bit too busy (lazy/forgetful...) for me to sit down and post it. I actually thought no one read this blog anymore, then lo and behold, in my comments, a request for more pics!So here's my baby, no longer a baby, but a very independent,

Evelynne turns 8 months tomorrow. (And huraah, I am so going to get this posted BEFORE that milestone). She is currently downstairs taking a nap.... it's been a huge week for us all - we moved house on Friday - just across the street, but still, everything has to be packed, un-built (my love/hate relationship with ikea continues), moved, unpacked, and rebuilt.I'm sitting on the couch that took

This poor old blog. It's fallen by the way-sideBut I'll make an effort to at least dot point what we have been up to. And I'm sure, the, what? 5 readers I have? might appreciate a few photos of the Girl. July we went away for a 2 week holiday to Brittany. It rained. The whole time. Except the day that we drove home. Bum-ah. Still and all, Brittany was a nice place to be, and we did a lot of

I just re-read my last post. 20 May. That's almost 2 montsh ago. And I "owe" Evelynne a 5 month update, AND a 6 month update, and photos. I wanted to type them up, because, you know, I've forgotten stuff already. Slap over the wrist for my lack of updating - if not for anyone else, at least for Evelynne, who might like to read it one day (FYI: Also, not so good at keeping the baby book up to date

A bit of travelling with our visitors

Ieper, and Brugge (again!). Can't get sick of Brugge though :)I am really so impressed with Evelynne's 'travelability' (made up word). She is quite happy to be in the car going places with us, and adapted easily to staying in a hotel overnight - she only woke up once during the night, and was perfectly happy most of the day being strapped in the pram as we walked around Brugge.I guess when I

On Tuesday, Evelynne's Grandma and Grandpa arrived from Australia. None worse for wear after a looooong flight, they slipped straight into the excited grandparents-meeting-their-newest-grandchild-role very well.Evelynne, naturally, loved the attention! We've been a busy bunch of people since! Hockey (and more hockey), a trip to the botanic gardens, long walks, a planned trip to Brugge and Ieper,

LOVED the swimming pool. Even though the water was only about 27 degrees. And how cool is this? (verrry)It's a travel bed (both Evelynne and I are in it. yes. it was a tight squeeze for me), no set-up required, you quite literally take it out of the bag, and it pops up like that, complete with self-inflatable matress. It even has netting to keep the mozzies at bay, and when all packed into its

Evelynne turned 4 months on Friday. And such a busy little 4 month old she has been! This month was highlighted (in flashing neon lights) by a visit from her cousins, which she just loved, followed by a visit to her cousins. With 3 kids at her beck and call, she really started to vocalise her wants! One of my favourite memories of the time we spent with them in Switzerland, was when we arrived

We spent a wonderful few days in Switzerland this week with family. Evelynne got to spend some time with her cousins and Aunty and Uncle, and this Mum and Dad got a bit of a break.... its always great when someone else wants to entertain a very alert almost-4 month old!!The trip to Switzerland was a good 6 hour drive, including a few quick feeding stops. Evelynne is a great little traveller,

It's a beautiful day today - the sun is actually out, and it's kinda warm. It was like this a week ago, then it got really cold again, and now I have that scratchy throat, stuffy nose, a cold is on its way kind of feeling. I'm sure it has everything to do with the weather. On a brighter note, we had a visit from these gorgeous kids over the weekend.Oh yeah, and their Mum and Dad too!We spent a

Last week, Evelynne reached the 3 month mark. It's all a little confusing, as this was just before she turned 13 weeks - not 12 weeks... and 12 weeks in my book is 3 months. But 'they' whoever 'they' are deemed her 3 months. The past few weeks have been an exciting, noisy, smiley, drooley time at Evelynne's house. She's really discovered her hands, and 'cause and effect'. Last week saw the arrival of that "through the night" milestone. We got more than we could have hoped. Or I should say I got more than I could have hoped - Russ sleeps through her waking most of the time!Previously Evelynne was fighting the sleep until around 11pm (4-5 hours of absolute misery - tears, crankiness, general over-tiredness), and would wake every 3 hours after that. Now goes down

Me, on the otherhand - couldn't really handle that big long needle going into those cute little thighs - TWICE! The baby girl turned 2 months on Tuesday. TWO MONTHS!!I've said it before (as I am sure have countless other mums) it is all going sooooo quickly!Evelynne's favourite trick recently has been to play with her tongue. She is so busy poking it in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-out-and-in-and-...It's very funny to watch. She also likes to 'suck' on just about everything - EXCEPT her

Image from National Geographic The news channels here are awash with stories of Victoria's devastating Bushfires. Facts and figures are spurted out, and then most of the time, there is a lengthy explanation on how such a tragedy could occur. You see, people in Belgium just wouldn't get it - they don't get it. I doubt many of them have seen a fire outside their family fireplace, or their charcoal

Oma and Opa arrived this week to meet their very first Grandchild - and she has them wrapped around her little finger!! Especially Opa!I can't believe how much my little girl has changed even in this short week. She is much more communicative with everyone, and is handing out quite a few smiles. I've even had to go through her clothes and put away her little baby clothes - she's just about
