Great post Renny! I've sort-of learned to XC ski since moving here, and I really enjoy it...though I find it hard work! I think my technique is poor, that may make it a bit harder. So glad to hear you're getting to ski, and I'm sure spending time with your son was extra-special too!

You're childhood reminds me of my own here in Canada. The cold weather never stopped us from playing outdoors - in fact, the more snow the better! While I learned to ski as a young child (and still enjoy it) it seems to be loosing it's popularity here with people preferring snowshoeing. I'm glad you had such an enjoyable outing with your son.

You wrote an inspiring post Renny. It proves that sickness cannot keep a person down and you should be proud of your achievement on the ski slopes. Your panoramic picture taken from your phone shows how beautiful your area is. I think just watching this splendid scenery would make one feel better.

i'm so glad you had a chance not only to enjoy this with your son but to prove to yourself you still can do it even if you have to modify and relearn just a bit. it's good to get back to the things you love and as you said it's good not only for physical health but mental as well. i have to admit i would provide only comic relief as a skier. i have only skied a handful of times and have had rather spectacular wipeouts even on easy hills. arms, legs, poles, skis all flailing wildly as i tumbl
