Yankees 10, Royals 4:Fantastic Day, Win For Cano, Hughes, And The Yankees

The Yankees went into today's game in a bit of a rut, considering they lost two of three to the Kansas City Royals, and Mariano Rivera is likely out for the season after tearing his ACL. New York needed a big win to get them going once again, and today the team got that win. After a rough first inning for Phil Hughes, the former phenom settled down and looked like himself for the first time all season. Continue reading →

Yankees Come Within 1 Three Times, Fall to Twins, 6-5

Published on 2012-04-18 22:48:54

Hiroki Kuroda had a tough day on the mound, allowing six runs on ten hits in just 4 1/3 innings as the Yankees fell to the Twins, 6-5, on Wednesday night in the Bronx. Kuroda simply didn't have it from the start, as he recorded just one out by the time the Twins had jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind back-to-back doubles by Jamey Carroll and Joe Mauer, followed by Justin Morneau's two run homer. Kuroda would allow another run in the third inning and was out of the game after serving up anoth [..]

Yankees Drop Liriano, Twins 8-3

Published on 2012-04-17 23:25:10

It didn't look too good early, as the Twins jumped out to 1-0 and 3-1 leads in the second and third innings, but it all fell apart for Francisco Liriano in the bottom of the third. He just couldn't find the strike zone, and when he did, the Yankee batters hit him hard. He allowed four runs in that frame via four singles, a walk and a sac-fly Continue reading →

Pitching to the Score

Published on 2012-03-14 02:16:43

Mood Music - Spanish Castle Magic by Jimi Hendrix A lot of stupid* things have been written about pitching to the score, causing the majority of saber nerds like me to put the guy who pitches to the score in the same pile as the twenty-game winner and the middle-of-the-order RBI man. This post could be some more stupid writing on the subject, as there's really no way to directly measure or definitively prove anything. Continue reading →

Tom Dakers of Bluebird Banter was kind enough to preview his team for us - It was a pretty boring off-season for the Blue Jays . They were linked to just about every free agent out there, from Yu Darvish to Prince Fielder , but, to the dismay of much of their fanbase, they didn't make any really big moves. The only changes they made were to the bullpen, where changes were badly needed, and some of the spots on the bench. Continue reading →
