Can You Teach Compassion?

Published on 2012-04-13 10:25:47

If you know me at all you know I practice living from compassion as often as I can. It used to scare me the lack of compassion in this world but what I've learned over time is that compassion is a teachable value. We should be teaching and talking to the children of the world how to live from a compassionate and kind space don't you think?

Do You Believe What You Think?

Published on 2012-04-10 17:54:02

Our thoughts come from a bunch of places but the two biggies are the cultural upbringing we have and what our brain is compiling from all the messages it's receiving from our senses. How many of those thoughts are facts and certain do you think? Not as many as you think. It makes sense that we believe our thoughts are true and correct. After all our pre conceived thoughts help us make sense of our world so it is only logical that we believe them. But is it wise?

Do this instead!

Too often we are told "don't do..." and then we are left with a void. That hardly helps us move forward so I am developing a 'do this instead' list.

The Coffee With Soul tele conference is an idea I've had for a while and suddenly felt it was time to make it a reality. So here we are. Got hope?

Got hope? Hope: the wish or desire for a future that is good. The expectation that a wish will be fulfilled. I know it's here somewhere right? We all have hopes, wishes and dreams. We all have secrets wishes and we all have dreams that we shout to the world.

Breakable? No Way

I work with people who are brilliant, creative and talented. They are practically able to taste the success they want. So why are they working with me? While there are many reasons, there tends to be a theme that comes through. There is something that isn't serving them. A part of them locked up tight that they are having trouble accessing and they don't know what to do about it.

Just a bad day?

Having a rough go of things can lead to waking up already in a foul mood. How do you change it? With some self care and a plan.

ME time..or in this case YOU time

There are some habits we have and don't even think about: they are just part of our daily routine. There is one habit though that I want you to add to that!

Are you ready yet?

Published on 2012-03-13 12:27:48

I think we all need some time now and again to sort of re-group and decide where our life is going to take us. Of course then there are people like me who are much happier when they can simply decide on the fly and take whatever turn happens to arrive. Either way, taking the time to regroup can be good. We all need some down time to appreciate what we already have don't you think? "To enjoy the moment is the gift that hard work gives us." ~Bonnie Copeland What I see more often tho [..]

If you’re gonna talk it…you better walk it

I like facebook because it's a great tool to keep in touch. I have noticed that some people are using it as a tool to feel better about themselves in a not-so-authentic way.

Is Character Crumbling?

Published on 2012-03-02 13:11:25

Do we as a society have crumbling pillars of character? No, I don't think character is lacking in people these days. Generally I think we all have a decent set of values and character. It's just we seem to have a tendency to keep it hidden inside. The reasons? There are two big problems as I see it right now, things that really need to change.

The Foundations of Character

Published on 2012-02-28 07:52:46

Foundations, traits...call it whatever you want; what makes us look to a person and say they have a strong character? What makes us strive to emulate them, when we want to have or develop good character in ourselves or our children?

When no one and everyone is looking; Character matters

Who we are, how we act, when no one is looking is the true measure of our real character. I think most people have heard this idea or something similar to it. While I totally agree with that, there is the flip side that is much more difficult handle these days it seems. Character is also who we are and how we act when everyone is looking

Your Past Does Not Define You

Published on 2012-02-14 08:39:40

It's easy to get hung up in the past. After all it made us who we are, it's our history and it seems to be hanging around all the time. People define themselves by what went before. They get stuck in those labels and definitions and beliefs. Your past doesn't define you. It only shows you the path you have already walked. You can choose a new one.

Nothing Can Hold You Back

It is human nature to want to avoid that which makes us uncomfortable and certainly that which hurts us. Problem is we can't avoid ourselves. At least not for long and certainly not if we want to have a life we are living and not just marking time in. You have another choice.
