Exciting News!!
Published on 2011-07-07 17:59:50
Ron has been working hard to move Junkblossoms to wordpress. The look is changing. We'll have several pages. Our new address is http://www.junkblossoms.com/but he's working so that you will be redirected when you go to the old blogspot address. I don't think you'll need to sign up again as followers. He says he can move you there, too. If you have any problems, please email us at junkblossoms@comcast.net. We will eventually have an online store at
Holidays and Yard Sales

Tomorrow is still a day of celebration. How are you celebrating? Ron and I are going to grill out in the afternoon. I have found that once you retire, the holidays kind of run into the rest of the days. It's kind of hard to relax and celebrate when most days are a day of relaxation. Instead of partying, I want to take time to once again thank the men and women in our armed services, past and present for their sacrifices. My Father was in in WWII and was at
What To Do With That Old Baby Crib
Published on 2011-06-29 18:53:43
Did you catch the news yesterday that drop side cribs are no longer legal? You can't buy them or sell them. So what do you do with that old crib? Ron had a good idea a while ago. Check this old blog post. Ron's Crib Chairs He took this crib and totally redid it. You are only limited by your imagination. Each chair is different. You can make two chairs from each crib. It's a great way to preserve an old crib for your children. Click on t
Thrifting For The Strong

I'm not sure what's going on, but thrifting takes a lot of traveling here in Nashville. There have been fewer and fewer sales. To find any we have to check Craig's list, leave early and drive all over town. We've even started looking in different neighborhoods. We went out on Friday and Saturday this past weekend. Usually Saturdays are better, but lately I've been glad we went junking on Friday. My booth would have been hurting if I had just gone on Satur
More Picking

I worked half the day yesterday pricing things for the booth and packing them up. I love picking, did I ever tell you that? It's always exciting. Tomorrow we'll take everything into the flea market. I'm planning on a work day so it will be a long hard day. But the booths will look so good. Let me show you what we're taking in.. This is an vintage Tidy Sew spool holder. This figurine is cast iron and is heavy! This is a vintage photo album. The purple
Saving a Broken Wicker Chair
Published on 2011-06-12 06:46:29
Once again I purchased something that was broken. I bought this wicker chair with a cushion on it. I even picked up the cushion and looked but didn't see it all torn up. They had disguised the mess. It doesn't bother me when this happens, it's just an opportunity to create something different.I know, I must have been blind to have missed this. I didn't want to toss the chair. But it looked mighty raggedy. It took me a week or two to decide how to make it
Thrifting Paradise

Today's junking was great. There were sales all over the place. I bought some wonderful things for the booth. I'll show you what I found over the next week. This pitcher came with six cups. I don't know for sure but I think it might be Waterford. I've researched it and that's the closest I've found. Waterford does the light footed pitchers just like this but my handle is fancier than what was shown on the internet. If you recognize it, please let me know
The Rest of the Pickings

I finally unloaded the rest of the goodies we found last weekend, just now that it's time to go picking again. Procrastinating is my middle name. Just call me P.P. short for Procrastinating Pat. It had been in the truck all this time and I had forgotten what was there. Here it goes, This tin bank is from England. I love the colors. This photo is the bottom of the tin. These table lighters are vintage, maybe 1950's. The ta
I've Changed My Mind

Do you all realize how hot it is outside? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I just hadn't realized how humid it was until I went out to work on the porch. I can usually work on a job until it's done, but today will be different. I'll work a little and then come inside and get cool. Then go back out. Blogging was the last thing on my mind as I worked. It sounds now like a great way to cool off. Besides it's almost time to go junkin

Friday junking never really truly excites me. It's usually tough finding sales. Today was so different!! Today we found lots of good stuff I'll show you later. But today I scored big time. This is my biggest ever score at a sale and I have to tell you all about it. Let me show you first. This is a fifty piece set of Gorham Silverware and the pattern is Greenbrier 1938. It's not silverplate but is silver, .925 silver. How exciting!
