My Twitter hashtag experiment worked!
Published on 2010-08-25 13:00:00
I tried a twitter experiment last weekend during our REAL MEN Conference. If you add a hashtag to a tweet it acts like a tag or label as in a blog post or like a hyperlink on a website. When you click on it you can see all the tweets for that hashtag regardless of whether or not you are following that person on Twitter. Click this hashtag #realmenwa & you will see all the 100+ tweets that guys tweeted at the conference whilst using that hashtag. You get a stream of feedback, quotes, pict
Raising volunteers – a huge challenge for every leader
Published on 2010-08-24 13:00:00
A truly gigantic task for all leaders of local churches is raising & releasing volunteers. One approach that has borne us some fruit is to approach this challenge from the volunteer’s skills rather than the church’s needs. We divide our church’s volunteer opportunities into 5 skill areas creative types task lovers tech heads friendly face connection builder Then we recruit on the basis of how our people are wired rather than on the basis of our departments &a
Inception – very interesting movie
Published on 2010-08-23 13:00:00
I haven’t been to the movies for months but caught Inception recently. Fascinating movie! Talk about wheels within wheels – it was all about dreams within dreams, layers of reality. It’s not unlike the Matrix series. I rarely recommend movies due to the variety of tastes people have but if you liked The Matrix you might just enjoy this one.

I know I do rave on about REAL MEN Conferences & probably bore people to death at times with this but I am an absolute fan of these events. Why? Primarily because of what has happened in my own heart over the last 6-7 years of annually attending men’s conferences. I just find that I always come away feeling better, strengthened in my resolve to be a Christian man to the max. Now don’t get me wrong. It’s not about some chest pumping, blood letting, screaming ritual of declarin
How do you get the best out of your leader?
Published on 2010-08-17 13:00:00
This weekend the leader of my movement, Phil Pringle is in town for our REAL MEN Conference. So what disposition do I bring to the table when I hear my leader? The primary position I take whenever Phil speaks is that of a follower. I decide beforehand that Phil is going to say something that is important for me to not only hear but act on. I mean what’s the point of joining a movement if you don’t follow the leader? Now I know someone will think that this is just mindless obeisa
Why am I a big Phil Pringle fan?
Published on 2010-08-16 13:00:00
I first heard Phil preach in 1987 at a church conference in Perth. I was a young pastor & Phil was in the early years of leading a dynamic & fast growing church in Sydney’s northern beaches. My initial reaction was astonishment at how such a young guy could be so trendy, bold & anointed all at the same time! I loved his turn of phrase & story telling. Phil has a unique way of stating truth. But what I loved even more was the encounter I had with God at that conference. I ha

Where should a leader spend their time?
Published on 2010-08-10 13:00:00
Time is a precious commodity & every leader needs to expend it wisely. Many years ago I decided to give my time to the key priorities in my world, one of which is the development of leaders. Proverbs 9:9 tells us the results of this time investment Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning. Leaders who invest considerable formal & informal time in the development of key people will see growth in those people. So how do I d
