Shelly and Carla at my locker in 1984. Yeah. Nobody messed with Carla Nelson.I am packing today. Trying to stay focused on washing clothes and hanging them outside to dry.(Dryer is dead.)I leave tomorrow for Salt Lake City, Utah. Why you ask? I am meeting my best girly friend Shelly. We met on August 27, 1980. Which if you are a total math head like me amounts to 30 years of friendship! Woot! I shall leave you with some scheduled posts. I can picture you now. On the edge of your seats, I am sur

See that thingy on the right? Yeah. It's right there. There. You can't miss it. I am so grateful that I once again have been training for the triathlon and look forward to running the race to bring awareness to the pain of abortion and the need for abortion recovery. I will grieve in a positive way the 20 years since my abortion. The journey I walk is difficult and amazing at the same time. God has redeemed so much of the pain and my Aubrey is with Him. I did this yesterday. Actually had to do over in both eyes! I couldn't seem to keep them open and the punishment for that type of behavior is 2 puffs for each eye from the Eye Blaster 6000!! True to form I convulsed with each puff. I still think they video tape all of us for their lunch breaks. Or maybe it is for a new tv show!! That'd be so cool. PS I am still years away from bifocals because I am not as old as y'all.

I don't know what this is. I just know what it isn't. It is not a dog bone or dog toy, dinosaur bone or dinosaur toy, hand soap, gel or bubble bath dispenser. All I know is that Sarah had to have this from the dollar section at Target.
Open, Shut Them

We have so ingrained in our children the mantra Shut the Door! In the summer we can't let all of that cold, delicious air out and in the winter we mustn't let in that nasty WI frigidity! Today is simply gorgeous and I want some of that air in here. I have spent the morning opening the doors while they continue shutting them.
Numbers

When it comes to my children there are several number patterns that I am enjoying. When Sarah turns an even numbered age, all the boys turn an odd numbered age. When Sarah is odd, the boys are even. Joshua and Sarah are a grade apart in school, just like Nathan and Tims will be. Sarah was born in the year 2000. She is 10 in 2010. That comes in handy when this old mommy brain stutters. When Joshua was in 5th grade and Sarah was in 3rd, Nathan turned 5 and Tims turned 3. When Joshua was in 6th gr
Nathan and the Hairy Disk

Nathan went through the junk drawer and found some sticky disks used for I am not sure what. He used one to stick to the back of his younger brother's head. Tims tried to yank it off and started to cry. There was NO WAY that disk was coming off without a hair trimmin. In swoops the mom with a scissor to chop away at the hair and free the disk. I have faith that Nathan could use this for something.

At the end of every school year I try to put some money in every cherub's lunch account. That way it is one less FEEEEEEE to pay in the fall. Recorder fee, roller skating fee, calculator fee, phy ed fee, ball chair rental fee, class party fee. I think you get the idea. I was wondering who would win this year's Lunch Lottery! Nathan $17.63. Sarah $16.18. Joshua was the big weiner with $36!! Can't wait for him to take me out for lunch.

My husband raced an inline 1/2 marathon last Saturday. I took a bunch of pictures and shot video and hooted and hollered for him. I love watching him race and I am so proud of all of the years he has put into the sport! This is the only photo that got the Patrick Stream thumbs up.

I have heard it said that as children get older they come to appreciate their parents. I am all for that. I just wasn't expecting words of praise from Tim today. He looked at me and said, "I am so proud of you, Mom."

Sorry I have been remiss in the blog posting department. I have a very good reason. Vacation Bible School! 278 children all in matching blue tshirts so it is easier to tell them apart, loud music with actions, games and crafts and snacks and karaoke and the hottest, most humid week of summer thus far! Woot! Mommy is a tad overstimulated.MISSIONS REPORTThese precious children brought in offering everyday for a ministry called OneVerse. In three days they raised $1,441.27!!!!!! That is enough to t

After two little boys took their baths yesterday, I commented that they were both as clean as whistles. Nathan told me, "Well, a whistle isn't all that clean. It is full of spit which looks clean but is full of germs."

1. While deep in Crystal Cave Nathan had an epiphany of sorts. He turned to me with eyes wide and asked, "Is this a cave?"2. I have been told that a bat flew right by my head in the cave. Although I am in denial about that as no video footage is forthcoming.3. In the gift shop it took approximately 46 minutes for the cherubs to touch everything cave related.4. At Interstate Park Joshua threw a rock over one of the cliffs. After a stern lecture by his Daddy about possibly hitting someone with a r
