Just stumbled upon this whilst searching through Tumblr, and had to post it. Brilliant.

Women's Aid Cabinet of Dreams

Published on 2012-02-08 11:34:21

Some people far more talented than me at my agency recently produced this glorious work for the charity Women's Aid. Instead of paying inflated prices for roses or cuddly toys, you can buy your loved one unique items such as "the moon on a stick" or "industrial strength mojo", and donate money to a worthy cause in the process. It manifests as an awesome-looking installation in the window of Framestore on Soho's Noel Street, where you can browse the gifts themselves, and then purchase via text mes

KLM unveil Meet and Seat - social media on a plane

Published on 2012-02-08 06:43:24

Snakes on a plane. Forget it - this is social media on a plane.KLM has unveiled "Meet and Seat" - an interactive service that allows you to link your social network profiles (Facebook and LinkedIn shown in the demo) to the seat-booking interface. The result means you can assess people on the plane (at least, what they have chosen to share - e.g. "MD of ACME, Inc. Flying on business to NY") and then base your seat choice on this. Now, this may be because I'm a 30-something with 1 foot in the analo

Mercedes lets people control ads with their car keys

Published on 2012-02-08 05:43:26

This is a really smart piece of thinking. Really considering the consumer, their behaviours and environment led this campaign to use the signal from existing car key fobs to control DOOH ads in Berlin. It's always a barrier to entry expecting a consumer to download yet another app to control or do something (which, in turn is also very egotistical of the brand to expect someone to put in effort just to get access to the brand's message - there has to be a very strong value exchange). In all cases,

The rise of the second screen

Published on 2012-02-03 06:25:42

Hindsight is at once a wonderful and frustrating thing. It's single-handedly responsible for most of the world's facepalm moments and yelps of "oh my God, why didn't I think of that?""Second screen", "multiscreen", whatever your description of choice, is quickly growing to become a facepalm moment and if content creators don't catch up really soon, they're going to find themselves looking back on a disrupted market that other companies are now making money from.Second screen is - in a nutshell -

TNW: How Apple's Top Secret Product Development Process Works

Published on 2012-01-26 04:54:33

There's a fantastic excerpt article over at The Next Web, covering a number of the steps involved in new product developments over at the mighty Apple. I'm not Apple-zealot (I'm not much of an anything-zealot, in fairness, unless Guinness, bourbon, heavy metal and video gaming count?) but it's a fascinating insight into how such a high-profile company manages to keep culture-changing products under wraps so well, for so long.I interviewed at Apple last year, and got a few little insights into th

AKQA creates Dancify Yourself app to promote MS Kinect game

Published on 2012-01-23 08:57:27

As reported by Digital Buzz Blog, there have been a few mobile apps created in recent times, with the primary purpose of promoting or supporting a video game title (GTA Quad Maps (unofficial), Read Dead Redemption guide (unofficial)).AKQA has come at this more directly, developing a cross-platform mobile app that lets you get a flavour of the full game (Dance Central 2, on Xbox 360) by letting people use their mobile to record themselves, or a friend, dancing to one of a handful of tracks. (not so) still life uses Unity 3D

The Next Web has just posted about a developer called Scott Garner, who has created an interactive still life, that I think's awesome. I'd love to do something similar in all the rooms in my house - paintings you can play with :)Check it out below:Still Life from Scott Garner on Vimeo.

The rise of cloud- and app-connected cars + views on market disruptions

Published on 2012-01-19 07:38:58

It's fascinating to see where cars are heading at the moment. Major manufacturers such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Ford are all racing to lead the integration of mobile technology, apps, APIs and more into their vehicle offerings, with "Chrysler's Uconnect or Audi Connect unveiled at CES this week [accounting] for nearly $7 billion (£4.55 billion) in sales this year, according to the Consumer Electronics Association." (see article linked below)Now, there's a phrase I hadn't seen myself writing b

Tablets play key role in consumers’ lives

Published on 2012-01-18 08:19:23

Some really interesting insights have come out of this survey commissioned by the IAB. The survey of 600 consumers reveals some interesting insights into the devices used, and showing that no 1 device (mobile, desk/laptop or tablet) rules overall – in face they work in conjunction:"even with extensive developments in tablet devices a role still remains for smartphones, desktops & laptops""usage patterns [verified] how the three devices can work in harmony within consumers' day to day lives
