Oh No, Not Again!

Published on 2012-05-21 15:15:00

The First (and last) thoughts of Agrajag's incarnation as a bowl of Petunias. You may have noticed that I'm a bit of a science fiction fan. One of the books that cemented that love of all things futuristic and spacey is Douglas Adams' amazing book 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.' I loved all the silly things going on and the added on descriptions of totally random, seemingly unrelated stuff scattered throughout. This is my design in tribute to that masterpiece. Its based on the scene whe [..] > read more

Renew!

Published on 2012-05-15 13:54:00

Enter the Carousel. This is the time of Renewal. Its another one inspired by a classic sci-fi film. This time its Logan's Run. There were some great sci-fi films made way back in the 70s and they all seem to have soundtracks created by one man and a synthesizer. I've never quite figured out how that tradition started but I'm kind of glad it did. The > read more

Rockatansky Fuel Haulage

Published on 2012-05-07 10:55:00

Max will always get your fuel there on time. A little Mad Max themed doodle for you all this time. Max Rockatansky has to be one of the most unusual names for any movie hero. Thank goodness they shortened it to Mad Max for the title or the posters would have looked terrible. The fortified truck from the Road Warrior is a pretty iconic vehicle and I thought you would probably want to use it more than once (if it hadn't been destroyed by the humungus). Safe and secure fuel deliveries would have [..] > read more

Revenge of the Frogs

Published on 2012-04-28 14:45:00

One day the frogs will get their own back, just wait and see. Back in the very early 80's one frog was getting a really bad deal out of these newfangled video games. Its been a long time coming, but now he has some genetically mutated friends on his side, its time to get revenge. Why don't you try getting across the road and see how much you like it huh? I don't really know why I was thinking about old school video games. But when I thought about turning one of them on its head I just knew it [..] > read more

Battle Royale Class 3B Final Report

Published on 2012-04-18 16:03:00

Battle Royale Class 3B Final Report What do you do when you've finished watching Battle Royale? Well if you are me you start thinking 'that film was awesome, I want to make a design inspired by it!' Then of course you get carried away come up with an idea and start watching it again. Only this time you take notes on how everyone was killed and in what order and work up a nice poster based on the notes. So there it is, the final report of Class 3B, all 40 kills with the weapon that caused them. [..] > read more

Embrace the Chaos

Published on 2012-04-09 06:03:00

Embrace the Chaos - the first rule of holistic detecting. I love a good Douglas Adams book so obviously I had to watch the BBC version of Dirk Gently when it aired recently. It wasn't as good as the books, but I imagine its pretty tricky to get all the side thoughts and distractions that crop up in Douglas' writing onto the screen. One thing that did keep seeming to crop up was Dirk telling MacDuff to embrace the chaos. It stuck in my head enough that I wanted to put pencil to paper and do a li [..] > read more

Big Red Balls of Doom

Published on 2012-03-28 15:30:00

Indy's most challenging challenge Finally a break from the science fiction! Total Wipeout (or just plain Wipeout in the US) is one of those shows that is a real guilty pleasure to watch. It shouldn't be as funny as it is to watch people falling over and getting knocked down, but everyone enjoys seeing it anyway. So I was wondering just what it would take to make it over the big red balls when I suddenly realised. It would take Indiana Jones. This is one of those drawings that was pretty much c [..] > read more

Fire Department 451

Published on 2012-03-19 15:22:00

Fire Department 451 A bit more science fiction has unexpectedly found its way onto the blog. This time its the Ray Bradbury classic Fahrenheit 451 that gets the treatment. In case you haven't read it, this is a story about a fireman called Montag. The world he lives in has a very different use for firemen though. With all the houses safely fireproofed, they are instead used to protect the people from the dangers of books. Montag comes to realise that this might not be the best way to live, than [..] > read more

Flying Needs Votes on GoodJoe

Published on 2012-03-10 03:44:00

Flying. Vote for it on Goodjoe Most people daydream about being able to fly, unless you're terrified f heights I guess. I do anyway so I drew this up as a nice dreamy vision of soaring about through a futuristic city. One day I might get bitten by a radioactive pigeon and get super powers, but until then, I'll just have to keep on dreaming! If you've been hanging around here for ages, (there's bound to be someone!) you might remember that i submitted this design to Threadless. It scored reaso [..] > read more

Devil's Tower Spaceport

Published on 2012-03-02 13:47:00

Devil's Tower Spaceport Wyoming There aren't very many natural landmarks as recognisable as Devil's Tower. I guess that's why it was used in Steven Spielberg's classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I'm pretty sure that everybody has had a go at making their own mashed potato version while mumbling "I'm sure this is important somehow." When it was reused in the sci-fi tribute film Paul, its place in (fictional) space travel history was raised a little higher still. So I thought I'd make m [..] > read more

Android Dreams

Published on 2012-02-24 13:47:00

Android Dreams. Looks like its electric sheep again. So I've let my Sci-fi nerdiness get the better of me once again! I finished reading through Philip K. Dick's classic, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (also known as Blade Runner on the big screen.) And I just had to do something about it. Luckily I just happened to see a great design (Circuit Bots by Seven Hundred) based on circuit diagrams and suddenly there was this design staring me in the face, from inside my head obviously! Its quit [..] > read more

Santa Clara Takeaway

Published on 2012-02-17 14:04:00

Santa Clara Takeaway, the best chinese in town! One thing I never could stand about Santa Clara, all the damn vampires! The 80's had some great movies and The Lost Boys was one of them. Utterly cool from beginning to end, Keifer Sutherland being mean before Jack Bauer was even thought of, the Frog Bros! Just plain awesome. This idea has been hanging around the back of my head for a while and I thought I had best get it out into the world before too long. Personally I'm not a big fan of creepy [..] > read more

Station's Most Bodacious Creations

Published on 2012-02-11 04:56:00

Station's Creations, the good robot Bill and Ted Bill and Ted, the two most excellent time travellers, need a bit of help to defeat their evil robot counterparts. So they enlist the help of the two-part alien Station to build them some good robot buddies. Not only do they totally defeat the evil robots, they also make pretty good backup dancers for Wyld Stallyns. Time travel, rock and silliness combined into two awesome movies? What coud be better? Not much if you are me so I thought it was ti [..] > read more

Where's Wookiee

Published on 2012-01-30 10:54:00

Where has that Wookiee got to now? I was looking at my son's Where's Wally books (Where's Waldo over the water) when this little idea hit me. I had to get sketching! After trying (unsuccessfully) to do a full page of finding the wookiee like inside the books I had a better idea and tried making it look like a book cover instead. This version worked out a lot better and, after drawing more Star Wars charactersin one go than I have since school, I came up with this. I'm pretty pleased with the en [..] > read more

Basil's Fury

Published on 2012-01-22 15:30:00

Basil Fawlty takes out his frustration. Fawlty Towers is one of those classic British sitcoms. It never seems to get any less funny no matter how many years pass. So I thought it should get a doodle. This is one of my favourite scenes. Basil's legendary anger gets the better of him when the car won't start and so he pays it back in his own special way. I think its the utter uselessness of it that gets me. There's almost no danger of the car being damaged but he rages away it at regardless. It c [..] > read more

Horrible Weapons

Published on 2012-01-14 07:23:00

Horrible weapons as used in some classic horror movies Horror movies for me are all about the weapons. There are sharp ones, blunt ones and the more off the wall ones! So here is a selection of my favourites. If you had this little lot available I reckon you would be able to survive most zombie outbreaks without too much trouble. Bonus points if you can name the films they come from too. In this case points don't win you prizes but you do get to be proud of your geekiness! This is a slightly [..] > read more

Dragon Army Emblem

Published on 2012-01-02 14:24:00

Ender Wiggin's Dragon Army Emblem You might have noticed that I'm a little bit of a sci-fi nut. And once in a while its good to indulge the geekiness inside. So when I started thinking about doing a little something to do with Ender's Game, I knew I should just get it out there to stop me dwelling on it too much. So after imagining obscure pictures of people floating around pointing guns I thought I would make it simpler and just go for an emblem instead. I only got around to reading Ender's G [..] > read more

2011 over and out

Published on 2011-12-31 09:38:00

Its that 'recycle an old doodle' time of the year! I don't usually write lots of boring stuff in these posts but I figure that once a year can't hurt. This year I decided to get back into drawing after carefully avoiding it for too long. So when I discovered sites like Zazzle and Redbubble it came as a bit of a surprise that I hadn't found them before. After a bit of the usual artistic doubt (but what if people think my drawing is rubbish, what if these places are a scam, etc.) I got a bunch of [..] > read more

I bet you got little save pitiful portable picnic players. Come with Uncle and hear all proper. Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited!"
