It’s been mooted that artist Mr Brainwash is a construct, a phoney, a big joke on us, created by Banksy in his film Exit Through the Gift Shop and now making a packet from our stupidity. Surfing is not just a sport. For many, it’s a way of life. Labels caught on to this, and brands including Quiksilver and Billabong have taken surf style from the sea to the streets. She Monkeys, Lisa Aschan’s debut feature, certainly does not make for comfortable viewing as it pushes the boundaries of political correctness to breaking point.

Last week I was transported back to the 80s. Not in a ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ Bangles sort of 80s way but a grittier, violent flashback to the football ground hooliganism which, at that time, dominated ‘the beautiful game’.
