New anti-inflammatory drug to possibly hit market in 2013
Published on 2012-10-18 15:41:00
Now this something I can get excited about! I am not to keen on the idea of having to take medications such as Enbrel or Humira because of the side effects, cost and uncertainty of its effectiveness. I know a lot of people take these meds with great success but there are a lot of people who tried them with no such luck. After my latest flare I started back on my diclofenac (NSAID) and right away my ulcerative colitis kicked in with a vengence. Its been a long time since I have taken the anti-infl [..]
AS patients need dental checks: study
Published on 2012-10-17 09:06:00
I have always been a proponent for dentists and getting your teeth cleaned twice a year especially after I read an article about George Burns who said his good health was due to visiting a dentist yearly! I personally had periodontal disease in my early twenties because I was so terrified of dentists I would not go to them. It wasn't

Book suggestion for those of us with AS
Published on 2012-10-10 21:48:00
Mostly Cloudy With Some Bright Spells by Juliette WillsJuliette give an amazing description with more than some graphic details to how she has coped with her "undiagnosed" diseases. Much of the book was hillarious, but on some accounts she showed the true side of what living with a debilitating condition can do to the physical as well as the mental state of affected people. Much of the time I found myself crying because she lives in such a different world than I do. Medical facilities in the UK [..]

Untapped Pharmacotheray Market for AS
Published on 2012-10-10 09:07:00
Well looks like the medical community has proof that AS needs specialized treatment. I dont take any TNF blockers, but there are many who do and some get relief when others dont. I'm glad that maybe someone out there might think that early diagnosis and new drugs that are specific for AS are necessary.Lesser Known Ankylosing Spondylitis Pharmacotherapy is an Untapped Market in the United States, Finds Frost & Sullivan
We ARE amazing!

I have to remind myself of this often, especially when I'm not feeling my best! I have been reading a marvelous book, that I will be sharing once it is finished, and found myself crying because of what this woman has gone through. The last week my sacrum has been flaring up and nothing I do other than lay down seems to help. But reading this womans story makes me realize that what I go through is nothing and I mean nothing compared to her life dealing with this illness.

NSAIDs Halt Damage in Spinal Arthritis
Published on 2012-09-26 09:38:00
Interesting article that came out last week about anti-inflammatorys and their ability to "maybe" slow the progression of bony change of the spine in ankylosing spondylitis. I say maybe because the "cohort" that was used was really to small of a study and it was conducted only for 2 years. But hey it is a start. I was on NSAIDs for a pretty long time and if what they say in the study is true maybe that has been the reason the AS progression in my spine has been slow.Read for yourself:NSAIDs Halt [..]

Stress and its effects on AS

Over the last week I have been having a hell of time with my neck, shoulders and upper back. I have been to the chiropractor two times and for a massage and have had no relief. I was beginning to think that maybe I was eating something "bad", but I had been checking everything, so I wasn't sure what was going on. I was not going to get discourage and begin to think that I hadn't found "my answer".I decided to ask the pendulum if I was eating something "bad" for me and it said "NO". So I thought [..]

My back started hurting between my shoulder blades then moved onto my left shoulder and just ached all week. I was sleeping well but the achiness just wouldn't go away. Is it too much to be too hopeful? Because I think it is working. My "pendulum diet" that is. It has been 10 days since I started using the pendulum to test the food I was eating and see if it was "good" or "bad" for me. Then I started asking if it was "good" or "bad" for my stomach. Now I have started being even more specific and asking for quantities but thus far I haven't been able to have two of anything. What I am enjoying is eating flour tortillas. I haven't eaten these for many years and I [..]
