Two years have passed since DePuy Orthopaedics, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, had recalled its DePuy ASR hipreplacement systems. However, medical organizations across North America and Europe had raised alarm that Pinnacle hip replacement system is as prone to failure as the ASR hip system, an international news agency reports. Pinnacle hips are likely to fail in the next two or three years of use, says a July 2012 dispatch by Reuters.
DePuy Orthopaedics, a Johnson & Johnson Company, has manufactured more than 150,000 Pinnacle hip replacement systems since first launching the device in 2001.
