Nicotine House

August has been a decent month, better by far than June and July combined. I have 18 jobs on the books for the month, and will have made--before taxes--just under $1800, still far less than I used to bring home every two weeks. This past week was fairly busy, with at least one house every day. On Wednesday, after cleaning two houses with generous help from my husband, I noticed that my right hand was starting to hurt. An older woman in her mid-sixties, we'll call her Fern, was preparing to move out of her three-bedroom house into a senior community condo. My poor husband. For the second time, he accompanied me on a spring cleaning, this time for a woman who would soon return home after spending time in hospice. Her neighbor, a friend of hers, contacted me and wanted to have the house cleaned as a favor, a very generous and kind gesture.
