Larry and I just watched The Great Raid, a WW II movie about the most successful rescue mission in our military history. The Army Rangers in a surprise attack freed 500 POWs who were slated for "liquidation" in a Japanese prison camp in the Phillippines. About 120 Army rangers with the help of local Phillippino guerillas took on several thousand Japanese and succeeded with only two American casualites and 21 Phillippino.
