Songpyeon - Half-moon Rice Cake

As a matter of course Songpyeon is the typical food not only for the harvest festival on the 15th of August by the lunar calendar but for autumn. It was made since the seventeenth century. The proverb says "Woman who makes Songpyeon beautifully she will deliver a beautiful daughter. " Songpyeon in Jeolla-province is bigger. Sweet peanut balls

Ingredients: 40 peanuts, 3Tbs dark sugar, 3Tbs syrup, 1ts instant coffee, 1/4C water Cooking procedure : 1. In a small pot, add dark sugar, syrup, instant coffee and water. Boil over medium heat and simmer to make caramel sauce. 2. Coat the peanuts with caramel sauce. 3. Shape the peanuts of (2) into round balls and leave until set.
Sweet potato rice

Ingredients : 1C rice, 2 sweet potatoes, 5 peeled chestnuts, a pinch of salt, 2C anchovy broth Sauce: 2Tbs soy sauce, 1ts chopped garlic, 2ts chopped scallions, a little sesame oil and ground sesame. Cooking procedure : Wash the rice, soak in water for 30 minutes and drain. Wash the sweet potatoes and cut into 2-cm cubes. Soak in cold water.
