Located at the confluence of the Mekong and the Tonle Sap rivers, Phnom Penh is the largest city in Cambodia. In recent years, Phnom Penh has become increasingly pleasant though perhaps not "The Paris of the East" pre 1970s. Kep was once Cambodia's premier beach town drawing weekenders to its shores with seaside villas of the privileged class. Nowadays the old villas are in ruins and the town is known more for its oceanfront seafood stalls and crab restaurants than for its beaches.
