A shocking report by the Department for Transport (DfT) has revealed that 309 children aged under 12 were killed or seriously injured in 2011 as a passenger in a car.
As a result Amanda Smith, a driver safety expert and guest contributor for the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), has issued a number of tips to help drivers keep their kids safe whilst on the go.
1. Take responsibility
A study undertaken by car manufacturer, Kia has revealed that 70% of mothers find the school run very stressful.
The study went on to show that 42% of the mothers questioned spent over 11 minutes in the car taking their kids to school - equating to more than 35 hours in a school year.
