These tubs may not sexy by any standards but if you or someone you know can't soak in a tub for physical reasons does it matter? All of us want to "age in place gracefully and safely" but most likely your or someone you know has medical reasons that just lifting your leg and balancing and not slipping into your standard tub is not going to happen without a lot of stress and/or injury. If you or someone you know has problems like this, you need to check out this great compa read more..

I love Kathy Womack's art and her "Women and Wine" series in particular. Not only does she use great colors but I can relate to almost every one of her pieces from this collection....Whether it's my mom, me and my sister; or dear friends... You can't help but put yourself in these paintings and that is why I think this particular series is soooo popular! She has ones that represent baby showers, Christmas parties and birthday parties too.... I dar read more..

I guess with our gloomy weather, I have had color on my mind lately.  Not that I don't love gloomy weather but I love color too. :) I just found out about this and wanted to share with you....Finally there are some other chalkboard paint options out there other than your standard black and green, not that black and green don't have their places but let's all agree more color is well more exciting. A Question of Color

Published on Wed, 13 Jan 2010 16:00:00

I hear the buzz and I read a lot of articles about color, and how people are adding more of it into their lives.  I tend to agree with all of those, but when I read that people are actually adding more color to their bigger ticket items in their homes, I hesitate because I don't see that at all with my clients.  Most of my clients feel that they would rather add or change color down the road with everything BUT the higher ticket item. (Neutral Sofa) I agree people are get read more..

Happy 2010!

Published on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 22:39:00

We took some much needed time off to celebrate the holiday season at our dear friend's gorgeous ranch in California and boy did it feel great...No phone, no lights (that was only for 7 hours), no computer and no TV even.  All by my choice mind you, well not the power part but like I said that was only for 7 hours due to high winds. ;) There was music however so of course there was lots of dancing to the oldies, like "Freebird", Born to Run from "The Boss", and singing, I will save your e read more..

Congratulations Turquoise!

Published on Wed, 16 Dec 2009 20:35:00

My love affair and earliest memory of turquoise began when I was a child.  My Grandma had a charm bracelet with her 6 grandkids represented by their birthstones on each charm and mine was a beautiful blue...Turquoise, see (blurry) picture below...My Mom has this now and took this picture with her camera phone, but at least the turquoise pops, ha! Well anyway, turquoise was just selected from Pantone as the 2010 color of the year! I apparently am not the only one who is in read more..

Laundry Time

Published on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 00:34:00

Last Monday in the middle of doing laundry my washer freaked out with wierd noises and stopped in mid spin leaving my clothes wet and full of water.  I closed the lid and tried to figure it out to no avail.  I called for service and they showed up on Tuesday, they only spent 5 minutes looking before they told me the bad news....It will cost more to fix it than replace it.  I was freaked out needless to say.... When I bought my Whirlpool Calypso 8 years ago it was touted as read more..

Okay, my clients kitchen is ready for Thanksgiving, just barely. If you are thinking "so what", here is my blog from this past weekend to catch you up... Here is a pretty drastic "before" and "after" of the bar area of the kitchen don't you think?  The "before" was their original laundry room, for this area we moved the garage door down for more room, can you tell? My clients are sooo excited to not only have their kitchen back but in time for Thanksgiving which was no small read more..

Kitchen is Almost Done...

Published on Sat, 21 Nov 2009 21:00:00

My clients had a tired, small, awkward kitchen, I am not speaking out of line, this is what they told me.  :)  Before they brought me in, they were talking about moving their existing kitchen to their attached garage so they could have more space. After looking over their existing kitchen I felt like we could work with this quite easily by removing some walls and lifting the roof, okay just ceiling but that was fun to say.  This kitchen WILL be done by next week, all exc read more..

Are you of the age that you not only know what record albums are but still have yours?  I do, I can't seem to part with them, they all mean something to me, especially fond memories like pretend kissing the guy (didn't even know his name) from this cover, the top left picture, from the Bay City Rollers, hey in 4th grade they were huge! :) Well I just saw this cool way to show off your album "art" here.  They hold up to 6 record albums at a time.  You can display read more..

Ceiling Fan: Reminder

Published on Thu, 05 Nov 2009 16:00:00

I have written about this before, but just as a reminder.... Now that the heat has gone away and cool weather is upon us, don't forget to switch your ceiling fans in the REVERSE (clockwise) position.  If you run it at a low speed it will gently draw the room air up towards the ceiling and force the warm air down and out towards the walls so as to avoid the wind chill effect. Have you seen the somewhat new Kohler, Karbon articulating kitchen faucet yet? I would assume so, it seems like everywhere I look lately it's there....Now that is a good thing because I think it's not only sexy but it works so intuitively as well when you touch it, it seems to read your mind, okay I won't go that far but seriously I love the way it moves. ;) Here are some of it's cool features: -It has an intregrated spray nozzle -Can be fully extended to fill large pots -Lowered read more..

I am a shower girl....Meaning, I shower 99% of the time and on the rare occasion, I will take a bath.  I am shocked though how many of my clients actually bathe in a tub more than shower, all women, which doesn't surprise me. What are you a shower person or tub person? Regardless, check out these tubs for the ultimate in cool.....It may change your mind. Glass Fetish

Published on Sun, 25 Oct 2009 15:00:00

I try not to show too much of my glass fetish when writing this blog, but I definitely have one and if I could I would blog about glass every day, well not that often, but more than I do now.  Here are just a few of my glass fetish blog posts "Jewelry Box Bath", "Now This Blows", "Ice Ice Baby" and "Glass Tile Possibilites", see I have it bad don't I? The average cost for a single dimmer is less than $20 so it pays for itself in about 26 months. Sleep in Splendor

Published on Thu, 08 Oct 2009 15:00:00

If you haven't heard of one of the finest beds in the world, now is the time.....Hastens. They have been family owned and operated in Sweden since 1852, hand making each and every mattress, so I think they know what they are doing. You can always spot the Hastens brand because of their distinct look....checked fabric, usually in blue, but they do have a rainbow of cotton checked fabrics to choose from. The first time I eyed one of these mattresses in person, I was up in S read more..

The Beauty of Tapestries

Published on Wed, 30 Sep 2009 15:20:00

Houses are getting bigger and that usually means more wall space and higher ceilings.  Sometimes it can be hard to decorate these areas, but have you ever considered using a tapestry? Tapestries are a form of textile art, woven onto a loom so that both sides are a complete work. They add, color, character and warmth, choose them just like you would a piece of art, it needs to "talk to you" or it's not the right piece. Tapestries usually will be the most significant deco read more..

Awhile back my hubby and I were celebrating his birthday in Old Montreal (fabulous town by the way). (It took us awhile to figure out why everyone was taking pictures of "our" house but finally we found out that "our" house was one of the oldest in Montreal, go figure.) Anyway, Right down the street from where we were staying we stumbled upon a wonderful art gallery called Nicolin and Gublin.
