Yaak and Back

My husband had been wanting to do this road for forever! It was the FORESTRY (this is important to note - we are NOT on the highway) road from Yaak to Libby Montana. So one weekend we headed out. First we head to Libby on Highway 37 to Highway 2 to Road 508. To this day, barnone, one of the best motorcycle roads and is still one of my favourites. It is motorcycle heaven on this road - long twisties, excellent pavement (which I will really appreciate later on) with the right mix of amazing views.
We finally got to Yaak - where apparently, one has to stop at the Ditry Shame Saloon. Now, THAT was an experience I will always remember. Did you know it's the only place where the menu is burgers? That's it! We met the nicest people from a mushroom picker to a local...not sure what he did...but he bought us dinner and drinks just for stopping by 'his' town.
We set off....I was looking forward to my ride at the back of swerves and reverie. Yeah...right....did I mention the best work out my thighs have ever gotten? Or the fact the size of the potholes could have been home to semis, or the fact it's ALL downhill.... OMG! I have never had to rely on my knees so much to just stay on the back!
I discoverd that knees really do react like shock absorbs....my kidneys and back on the other hand needed a full readjustment by the time the 1 hour was over. Now, I am not saying it wasn't an amazing ride....cause it was....I am just sayin' perhaps a little time in the gym prior to preparing would have been beneficial.
I always know when Bart is having fun as he has this insane like giggle...as I was holding on for dear life through bumps, curves, u-turns, and dodging potholes I came to realize this is truly what motorcycling is all about. The once in a lifetime adventure that you have to repeat.
We finally get to the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro....I mean Kootenai Mountain and Bart pulls over. I am like what? Why? Oh...we have no back breaks...lost them half way down....had to use the front ones ever so slightly to make it down....now he tells me....
