Today I am going to talk about Targeted Traffic Generation.

To succeed online, your website has to have traffic.  Not just any sort of traffic, it must be ‘Targeted Traffic’.  Without this type of traffic, your online business will never succeed.

Thousands of entrepreneurs start an online business of some sort everyday.  It is only those that know about targeted traffic generation to their website that succeed.  Many people fail as they either don’t know how to get targeted traffic, or they don’t know the difference between targeted and non-targeted traffic generation.

I’ll put it this way.  Say you own a website that sells mens clothing.  Imagine getting 5,000 hits per month on your website.  Sounds great doesn’t it!!!  Let’s say though, that these people just stumbled across your website, but weren’t really looking for Mens clothing.  What is the chance of them sticking around, and even more importantly, making a purchase?  Probably a very low chance I would say.  An example of this type of bad traffic generation method is site surfing programs.  These are sites where everypage you view, someone else views your site.  Not very targeted for most niches out there.

But what about if you had 5,000 leads per month entering your website through an ad, your Blog, a your forum post some other form of advertising etc.  These leads would be targeted, and the chances of them making a purchase is a LOT greater.  You see the difference?  The first traffic generation technique just gets you lots of hits to your website, whereas the second type of traffic generation ‘Targeted‘ is what gets you CUSTOMERS!  And customers are what pays the bills!

1000 targeted leads to your site is worth a lot more than 20,000 non-targeted leads!

• Writing your own Blog

• Posting on Forums in your niche

• Getting targeted back-links to your blog or website

• Pay Per Click Advertising

• Classified Advertising (Paid seems to work a lot better than free ad sites)

• Video Marketing

• Word of Mouth Advertising

Ok, I know there are lots of other methods, but these ones work really well.  Targeted traffic generation is very easy, but you just have to know which methods generate targeted leads, and which ones don’t.

I thought about adding Facebook Marketing or Social Marketing to this list, but even though it is a great form of marketing, it isn’t always targeted. (Unless you are using Facebook PPC of course).

Once you start getting targeted leads, your online experience will be a lot more REWARDING!!

Don’t waste your time drumming up thousands of hits on your website through worthless sources, concentrate on getting targeted leads that are looking for what you have on offer.  Most customers are looking to solve a problem, and you have the answer!
