Why choosing the right color of your home can make all the difference!

Choosing the right color can help you set the mood for a room, or sell or rent your property.  When you are choosing color for your home or property, first decide if you are keeping the property for yourself, renting the property or selling the property. 

Firstly, if it is for yourself and you are planning to use the space for more than 5 years, you can color it in any color you want.  Color is the least expensive of all the other changes in the home, so if you don’t like it you can always change it.

There are many factors when it comes to choosing a color for your home.  Some of the things that you may want to take into account before choosing the paint colors are, print or fabric if you have any in the room, wallpaper, tiles, carpet, or other type of flooring in your home.  If you're working with a print fabric, you'll probably be happier if you select the coordinating wall paint color from the background of the print. Use the deeper or brighter tones for accents throughout the room or adjacent spaces.  

Use of one or two colors throughout the house will give you the feeling of continuity.  Keeping that in mind you can always add accent colors to give some life to the room.  But remember that you will get tired of the use of bold colors more quickly then other more neutral colors.

Secondly if you are renting or selling a property, you should try and go with what the people want.  Also you want it to be attractive enough for people to imagine themselves living in that property.  Choosing the right color can be tricky.  Keep in mind what you like may not be what others like.  Stay away from dark color accents.  Neutrals are pretty safe in a sense that it can help people imagine the stuff that they already own, without the interference of any heavy colors, therefore they can picture themselves living there. 

Finally whether you are keeping or renting or selling the property, the greatest thing that people overlook is the trim.  A fresh coat of paint to the trim, will bring any color you choose to life.  You room will look fresh and clean.  Apply the pain to the trim after the room is painted.  Also remember that matte finish will hide imperfections in a wall, and glossier finish will reflect light and show imperfections in a wall. 

Sometimes people are scared of color, especially dark colors.
