Where to look for the most efficient microphone

Because I have been around for awhile, I am in a better position to compare the advancements in technology that we have accomplished so far. Kids today have no idea what an 8 track player is, unless someone in the family has one sitting in mothballs. As far as electronics are concerned, if you were to tell me that cellphones were going to be as small as they are today, or we would be able to get such clarity and reception from a Lapel Microphone, I would probably think you had lost your mind. We have advanced so far that in many cases we can get the best prices while shopping online, instead of going to the local mall.
I use a microphone on a regular basis and because of that fact I want to have one that is effective and works well with the rest of my equipment. It is pretty bad when you are talking to someone and they keep having to ask you to repeat yourself because your mic is constantly breaking up during transmission. Personally I like the combination headset with microphone and if it can be a wireless microphone it would be that much better. After all is said and done, however, I always look for the equipment with the best quality.
It really does not matter what field you happen to be working in, when you are ready to communicate, you want the best equipment on hand to provide the most effective means of communication. Imagine working on some sort of undercover task where you require excellent communication skills, (especially if things go wrong) would you be happy with your equipment breaking down when you were in the process of communicating with your associates? Because the attention to detail is so good with todayscommunications technology, there is no reason why we should be accepting substandard equipment, especially if our lives depend on it.
