You may be asking yourself, what can you do with a sports management degree? There are endless options as to what kinds of jobs and positions that you can fill with a degree such as this.  You do not have to be able to physically play a sport in order to help determine the outcome of the game.  There are seven main occupations that you can have in the sports industry that will allow you to use your sports management degree.  They are not all the same type of job and they fulfill very different roles within the sports industry.  Also, you can have the same title in many different levels.  Therefore, the level you are working in (Professional vs. College) will determine your salary.

When you ask, what can you do with a sports management degree?  The first and most sought after position in the sports industry is to become a coach. To become a head coach of a professional sports team takes time.  However, you can always start small and gain experience and then one day be the one who calls the plays for your favorite sport.  Another sports management position is to become an athletic director.  High schools and universities have these and their job is to manage all sports functions and teams at the school.

The third sports management position that people look to gain is an agent.  As an agent, you will be able to see star athletes unveil.  You will represent players all the way from the beginning and through their professional careers.  You will work to make them as successful and as popular as you can.  The harder you work, the more you get paid.  Another option that will answer the question what can you do with a sports management degree is to become a scout for a professional or college team.  This is a person who makes it their job to find the team new players.  

If those four options do not answer the question of what can you do with a sports management degree, these three might.  For those people who do not want to run the team or be constantly on the field, they may like more of the business side of the degree.  Public relations managers, event managers and marketing staff are all necessary for the teams and university programs to be successful as well.  The public relations manager is in charge of making sure that the media is properly involved in team news.   The event manager is the person who is in charge of getting people in the seats at games and events.  And, the marketing staff is a group of sports management people who create the products that people want to buy to support their team.
