Web directories are a fantastic way to generate traffic to your website.  When you first get your website up and running, you want to get people to visit it as soon as possible.  Unfortunately, when you first open for business, no one knows who you are, or how to find your services.  This is where using Web Directories can be extremely beneficial for you.

One of the best things about most Web Directories is that the majority of them are free.  Some do offer paid services, or reciprocal linking, but most you will find won’t cost you a cent.  Free Advertising is my sort of Advertising!

There are many benefits of using Web Directories.  Some of these benefits are not limited to, but include:

• Increased traffic to your website

• Faster indexing in Google and other Search Engines

• Increased credibility by being listed, which increases rankings in the Search Engines

• Increased exposure of your ‘Brand‘, which of course increases traffic!!!

• Increased chance of  ‘Viral Traffic’ – Meaning your website will be picked up by other sources, and posted across the web

• The ability to link your deep linked pages.  Some directories allow you to list the other pages within your main site… Very Cool!!!

As you can see, the benefits of listing in Web Directories are numerous.

Basically, if you had to sum up all the benefits, it would mainly be Increased Traffic, Increased Traffic and you guessed it,  ‘INCREASED TRAFFIC’!!!!

And of course, Increased Traffic means more customers for you.

Ok, so I hope you can see now why I post regularly to Web Directories.  It takes only a few minutes to do one, and I do a few each night.  I have a huge list of Web Directories, and if you send me a message, I will give you the list I use.  They also offer a manual submission service which is great value for money.  For next to nothing, they will submit your website to hundreds of Web Directories.

I do recommend this service, although I still like to do a few each night myself, then I know it has been done and it takes me all of 10 minutes to do.  Either way, I just suggest you start doing it now if you haven’t already.

This is very easy.  Once you have your list of Web Directories, start visiting them one by one.  If you don’t have a list, ask me for one, or just do a Google Search for ‘Free Web Directories’ or something along those lines.

Once you find the Web Directory, you should be able to find a link to submit your site.  Once you find this, it is as simple as filling out all the details required, then hitting the submit button.

Some Web Directories will list you instantly, some will take anywhere from 24 hrs to 4 weeks depending on the company.  Not all will accept your site, but keep posting to different sites and within a few weeks, you will notice a change in the amount of traffic you are receiving.

I do this most nights as part of my Marketing Strategy.  It doesn’t take long, and I am seeing an increase in the amount of visitors I am receiving.

I think if you are serious about improving traffic and Search Engine rankings to your website, you really should start posting in Web Directories.
