Everyone wants to know how to get listed on the top page of Google. Here I will talk about what I consider to be the top 5 SEO tips to rank high in Google. There are lots of other ways to get listed, but starting off with this list of SEO tips will definitely put you in the right direction.

TITLE TAGS

This is an SEO Tip I consider to be top of the list.  The title of your website, article or blog post should be rich in keywords. This is the first thing a Search Engine will look at. For example, the title of this post is rich in Keywords. I have used a good mix as you can see. I use “Top 5 SEO tips”, “Tips to rank high in Google” and “Rank high in Google” all in the one heading. If someone searches for one of these terms, or my whole heading, it is more than likely to rank fairly high within Google. The title tag will also be the first thing someone will see, so it is likely to be clicked on.

DOMAIN NAME

Ok, this can be a hard one as a lot of the really good domain names are already taken. But if you really want to get found by the search engines, you should aim for a keyword rich Domain name.

 

This is not always needed to rank high, but if you are starting a website from scratch, picking a domain name with keywords in it will always be a benefit. If your domain isn’t keyword rich, that is ok. Many of the top listings in Google have domain names that are no representation of what the website is actually promoting.

SEO TIPS to rank high in Google – CONTENT OF YOUR WEBSITE

The actual content within your page is very important. I suggest adding a few keywords within the text, but don’t overdo it. Google can see if the word is used way too often, and I have seen websites punished for this.

I suggest to keep the reader in mind, and capture their attention. Add a few terms here and there, and you will soon see your page creeping up the Google ranks. I suggest writing a lot of good content on a regular basis. Getting links back to your website is vitally important. There are many ways to do this, and some are better than others. I would avoid services that promise 500 links back to your website etc… This type of linking can get you banned from Google in a flash. It is much better, and safer, to do it yourself.

I suggest doing the following: Commenting on Blogs with similar topics, commenting in Forums, writing articles, add your link to Directory websites and utilising Social Networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Find sites that are in the same niche as yours, and add comments there. This way Google will see relevant content, and you will be looked upon favourably. I choose to comment on a few blogs and forums daily to get steady results.

SEO TIPS FOR WEBPAGE OPTIMISATION

Search Engine Crawlers only read the HTML of the web-page so it must be properly setout so the crawler will rank you much higher. As I have said before, put the keywords in the title, description, and add more keywords in the keywords area. Do not forget to put H1 to H6 using the keywords. Alt Tags must be placed on the images wherever possible. For example, instead of labeling a picture pic1.jpg, you could call it ‘SEO Tips.jpg’ instead. Also use bold lettering on some of the keywords. I have heard this also helps with Rankings.

I also suggest using a sitemap of your page. This is looked upon favourably by Google, and helps you get ranked a lot quicker than if you don’t.
