The Necessity of Restoration of Balance (reader’s article)

As Aristotle observed, “virtue is in the mean.” The challenge of our future will be achieving some tolerance for equilibrium in perspective on a number of levels.
Humans have an innate tendency to approach life from one end of an issue or the other. Perhaps we have a better view of one side or the other; therefore, we believe that we “know” this side of the moon, finding it hard to believe the reality that we cannot see. However, the more likely explanation for the prevalent diametric opposition in our world and its associated tension arises from the unease inherent in simultaneously holding disparate or opposing concepts. To admit, “we don’t know”, while assuming that we must choose the correct version to define reality is to accept uncertainty and free fall. Consequently, we want to believe with all our might.
