It is true that one never knows just how much stuff they have until it is time to move.  I have discovered the hard way that the corollary to this is that you never know how disorganized you are until it’s time to start a new project or business.

I must admit that I surround myself with clutter.  My desk is piled with an astonishing array of stuff–papers, tools, parts, etcetera.  Next to my desk is a work area–filled on three levels with the paraphernalia of my amateur radio hobby.  Elsewhere books, printers, a copier and computers inhabit various niches.  Under normal circumstances, all of this is a wonderful thing–but leads to project stopping confusion with my new initiative.  While there is more “motivational” propaganda out there about how to prepare yourself mentally for new challenges than makes sense–they seem to ignore that all the positive thinking in the world becomes crippled without good organizational skills.  Here are some steps I took to move from problem to production.
