This subject can seem very intimidating for many people because humans are naturally lazy. We all want the quickest and simplest way to reach our dreams and happiness. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to the dream lifestyle unless you are blessed with wealthy parents or good fortune. This is why you must consider why planning and goal setting are absolutely essential to building your business and subsequently your wealth and happiness.

You may have heard the saying that, if you fail to plan then you plan to fail. If you have not heard this saying before then now is the time to learn this and absorb it. Getting to grips with basic planning and goal setting is the first thing to understand when building an online business or any venture you may be working towards. If you were building a house you would not just throw all the materials together and cross your fingers and hope that a house would appear. You must plan from the ground level up and build good foundations in your business as you would your house.

Setting a goal has to be realistic, measurable and appropriate to your skill level and timescale. What I mean by this is that if you are quite poor and you want $1 million dollars in 6 months then let us be honest that would be pretty difficult and unrealistic for most. This will only lead to despair and frustration and eventually you might quit. This is why you need to start with a smaller goal and in a realistic way decide what action you will take towards this. For example, write down what you would like to earn every month and start to break down what planning and goal setting is needed to get to this amount. Consider both the time and resources that are available to you.

Here is what you could physically do today to start the ball rolling. Break your plan down into daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Ensure that your tasks are the best use of your time and where possible are income producing activities. Take baby steps towards your end goal and once you start to achieve the desired results this will encourage you to increase your actions and then you can start planning and goal setting on a larger scale. This is how your business will start to gain momentum.

Planning and goal setting are a major part of most successful people's actions that is why they are successful. Now it is up to you to start taking action. I encourage you to start planning and goal setting today!
